Appreciating the Trends 2018/2019

Updated: Nov 9, 2018

In the trends of fashion, industries have developed a marketing ploy to encourage customers to buy clothing based on seasonal colors and patterns.

Last Summer's trend invited simple pastels and light neutrals; such as white, peaches, and tans. Spring of 2018 represented patterns, from polkadots to simple and chic floral. Last Springs also took an interest in the 'prairie girl' persona; ruffles galore and its sweet innocents. Fall 2018 is diving back into the trend of plaid. Plaid is evolving from general business attire and the private school girl look, to high trending fashion. This plaid is also encouraging the rise of blazers. The blazer MO is no longer seen as a general business jacket. Stylist are using oversized plaid blazers as statement pieces/accessory. Dark yellow, deep orange, navy blue, forest green, and apple red are taking over this fall. This trend is pretty consistent in understanding these hues mimic the color change in nature.

As winter approaches, the beauty and confidence of black emerges. This Winter is a time when animal print goes off the rails. From fur coats to cheetah patterned pants, the fashion industry is bringing back animal print but on a whole new level. Incorporating animal print on top of another animal print.

Layering is the essence of this winter. Is this trend based on weather predictions or the idea to wear as many articles of clothing so you get majority use of your winters wardrobe? Staring with a turtleneck base, adding a button down of your choosing, a sweater over that, a trench coat on top, and finally a even larger jacket, you are ready to take on the day. Though this concept my seem over whelming, the runways has provided markets with a new sales pitch that is truly appreciated. This arising trend is comfort at its finest. Looking great at feeling great. We have evolve from believing beauty is pain, to beauty and style can be comfortable. This trend of layering has helped me discover warmth in style, and has allowed my spring and summer wardrobe to evolve into a variety of seasons when adding a simple turtleneck under a dress, or stocking and tights with skirts, sweaters over button downs, which is indeed on a comeback, and a trench coats that reach my knees. This layering allows me to step out side on a fashion high while keeping my toes from going numb.

It is interesting to see trends evolve from season to season and from year to year. Fashion is on a consistent loop, updating and renovating old trends to fit the new time and era.

With endless love & from yours truly,

HB
